"Exercising Together: Strengthening Our Bond in Quarantine (Even on Our Anniversary)

Started Exercising During Quarantine:

It's truly a blessing to have a workout partner, especially in the midst of these challenging times marked by the pandemic and social injustices. For me, exercise has become my sanctuary, a way to cope with the stress and uncertainty that surrounds us all. What makes it even more special is that my husband and I have found a way to bond through our daily workouts. When COVID-19 hit in March 2020, we found ourselves working from home, and our son shifted to online learning. Suddenly, we were spending more time together as a family, and I couldn't be more grateful for this new normal.

Staying Motivated Together:

Before the pandemic, I was committed to my strength training bootcamp, attending four days a week. But when the gyms closed, my husband had a brilliant idea: why not work out together to stay motivated? He understood that I needed that extra support to maintain the progress I had made on my weight loss journey. What's more, he suggested we work out every day – seven days a week. At first, I grumbled about it, but looking back, it was the best decision we could have made.

Building Stronger Bonds:

Our daily workouts have brought us closer than ever. We even included our son in our exercise routine. Nothing, not even our 18th wedding anniversary, could deter us from our newfound commitment to health, both physical and mental.

Mixing It Up:

To keep things interesting, we take turns planning our workouts each week, sticking to the same routine for the entire week. We also create different challenges to break the monotony.

A Walk and a Talk:

After our workouts, we take a 2-mile walk to reflect on our day – it's the highlight of my daily routine.

Sharing Our Journey:

We document our fitness journey by posting about it on social media, sharing our progress, challenges, and triumphs with our friends and family.

Key Insights:

  1. Cultivate a support system or find an accountability partner, be it friends, family, or your significant other.

  2. Recognize the significance of crafting a workout regimen that suits your unique goals and requirements.

  3. Reflect on who serves as your source of accountability and what fuels your motivation to stay on track.
